Surf Life Saving NSW offer EOFY deal on Laerdal defibrillators
With the first few minutes after a cardiac arrest identified as being crucial to a person’s survival, there have been increasing calls for facilities including aquatic centres, fitness clubs, sporting events, venues and waterparks to equip themselves with automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
The sudden death of a 27-year-old competitor in Sydney's City2Surf event last year prompted Sydney University and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Cardiologist Professor Chris Semsarian to call for defibrillators to be in place at every school and at every sporting event.
The renowned cardiologist, who specialises in cardiac death in the young, stated "defibrillators should be at every sporting field and in every school.
“When you have a cardiac arrest, while having someone pushing on your chest might keep you alive for three minutes, the only thing that is going to save you is the shock of a defibrillator.”
Currently the Victorian Government is advancing plans to equip community sport grounds with defibrillators while, in New Zealand, fitness chain cityfitness installed AEDs in all of its 21 clubs over last year.
With the end of financial year (EOFY) approaching, Surf Life Saving NSW is offering a Laerdal HeartStart HS1 Defibrillator at a cost of $1,995 if purchased from Surf Life Saving NSW before 30th June 2015.
With a recommended retail price of $2,400, this represents a substantial discount, with the AED coming with extras valued at over $600.
The extras include:
• Free onsite Defibrillator information session with a qualified First Aid Trainer
• Free Slimline Carry Case
• Free Infant/Child SMART pads
• Free Signage
• Free CPR Face Shield Key Rings (x 5)
• Free Delivery (Australia Wide)
