Brumbies made welcome in their temporary home at the AIS
The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) will be the temporary training and accommodation environment for the University of Canberra Brumbies leading up to their 2014 Super Rugby campaign.
The Australian Sports Commission's General Manager of Corporate Operations, Steve Jones, said the Brumbies will be located at the AIS until the end of February 2014 when they move to the University of Canberra.
Jones explained "the AIS boasts world class facilities for high performance athletes and coaches and will provide an excellent base for the Brumbies to complete their off season, pre season and the beginning of the competition cycle.
"The AIS facilities to be used by the Brumbies on a commercial agreement will include state of the art playing fields, aquatic centre, recovery centre, combat centre and athlete dining hall.
"The Brumbies are a world class team and organisation so we are pleased to work with them to provide the best training environment possible."
Brumbies General Manager George De Crespigny said the club was very happy it could come to an agreement with the AIS, adding "we have had a good relationship with the AIS over a number of years and I am well aware of the excellent facilities they have to offer elite athletes.
"The pre-season build up is an important factor in how the team performs on the field during the season so it was important that we had the right location, facilities and services for our players to ensure they get the best possible preparation."
