Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre spotlights long-time gym member marking her 100th birthday

Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre has shared the news that much-loved long time member Edna Sheppard celebrated turning 100 recently while remarkably continuing to participate in eight to 10 gym classes per week.

Sheppard, who turned 100 on 29th January this year, has been a member at the centre for more than 40 years and is known to participate in a range of classes including aerobics and dance classes.

To celebrate, Sheppard was presented with a Lifetime Membership to Council leisure facilities to mark her commitment to health and fitness and for encouraging others to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Hume City Council Mayor, Carly Moore notes “Edna is an amazing role model for all those at the centre and the Hume community and we are so proud to be able to present her with a Lifetime Membership.

“Edna is living proof that you can do anything if you put your mind to it. Not only has Edna been a role model for health and fitness, she has also developed lifetime friendships with staff and members over her 40 years attending the Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre.

“In 2017, Edna became an Australian household name when she celebrated her 95th birthday and made headlines for her commitment to fitness. I am certain that her latest milestone will also make waves and inspire even more people to get active.”
