Gold Coast to hold 2022 netball Senior State Age Championships

Netball Queensland has announced that the Senior State Age Championships will be held on the Gold Coast across the weekend of 30th April to 2nd May 2022.

The three-day event, for netballers aged 15-17 years, will be hosted by Hinterland District Netball Association at Mudgeeraba.

More than 2000 participants and in excess of 4000 attendees are expected to flock to the Gold Coast to witness some of Queensland’s best talent in action.

Excited to see separate senior and junior carnivals held next year, Netball Queensland General Manager - Commercial, Marketing and Events, Nathan Spooner stated “we are thrilled to be able to share the location for the 2022 Netball Queensland Senior State Age Championships, and there’s already a huge amount of interest and excitement building.

“Having the events as standalone senior and junior carnivals from 2022 will allow more young women and men to compete across each age group and have their moment in the spotlight.

“It allows Netball Queensland to present two State Age Championships. In the past we’ve had teams and athletes from right across Queensland compete in these carnivals, and this year we are so excited to be able to give more opportunities to our future netball talent, highlighting our commitment to growing netball in Queensland.

“The Gold Coast has a fabulous array of facilities, and we are delighted that our inaugural Senior State Age Championships will be staged in this beautiful region.”

Major Events Gold Coast has once again continued to be a fantastic supporter of Netball Queensland in bringing this event to the Gold Coast.

Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate added “securing the state age championships is a huge coup for our city. Netball remains one of the biggest participation sports in Australia and this event will bring 2100 competitors here for three days of thrilling action.

“I applaud organisers, sponsors and our major events unit for making it happen.’’

The Gold Coast region is expected to benefit from an economic boost as thousands of netballers and attendees make their way to Mudgeeraba.

Netball Queensland will make a further announcement of the Nissan Junior State Age Championships soon.
