Battlefield Sports’ new technology expands laser tag repertoire

Laser Tag equipment specialist, Battlefield Sports, is set to unveil its latest innovation, a new generation of technology ideal for adventure parks, sports centres, transportable rides, and paintball fields this month.

Expanding its repertoire for gaming franchises SATR3 now supports science fiction skirmishes, fantasy games, military re-enactments, modern artillery scenarios and war time ordnance and tank battles. The system also has improved support for Battlefield Sports’ mainstays of modern battles and ‘milspec’ (for military training) as well as horror/zombies, and family friendly laser tag games.

Battlefield Sports founder Peter Lander explains that the “new technology is a ground-up reimaged and re-engineered live gaming platform, designed to maximise operator income and enhance the gamer experience.

“It offers operators a plethora of new features which means more operational flexibility.”

SATR3 offers 12 genres so battlefield operators can theme their role-playing:

1. Battlefield LIVE (equivalent of SATR2.0 Battlefield LIVE) - battle games using modern direct fire small arms and machine guns with in-game perks; the system still supports small arms from the Musket to modern day guns made famous from video games like Call of Duty
2. Battlefield Tag (family friendly genre, equivalent of SATR2.0 Battlefield TAG)
3. Fantasy (ancient to medieval weapons plus spells)
4. Battlefield UNDEAD (horror genre, equivalent of SATR2.0 Battlefield UNDEAD plus Melee weapons and monsters)
5. Science Fiction (futuristic weapons and devices)
6. WW2 AFV (for Second World War tank battles)
7. Modern AFV (for modern tank battles)
8. Modern Ordnance (for modern artillery)
9. WW2 Ordnance (for artillery)
10. All (access to every single emulation and function
11. American Civil War (for civil war re-enactments)
12. Milspec (for military training).

The new laser tag system comes standard with a 4 gigabyte sound card which includes sound effects for the real-time feedback and in-game voice overs which makes playing with the SATR system intuitive for example SFX such as ‘Bravo Team Base Captured’.

The standard SFX pack covers sound effects for Battlefield LIVE, Battlefield TAG and Battlefield UNDEAD genres.

Battlefield Operators can also opt for an Expanded Language Pack with comes with a 16 gigabyte sound card which includes more than 11,000 individual sounds, covering sound effects for all genres.

Like in previous generations of the SATR laser tag system the LCD screen displays key gaming information including Hit Points, Kill & Wound counts, time left in the game, and ammunition. Battlefield Sports’ patented hit-feedback enable gamers to know their statistics in real-time.

Battlefield operators can configure the laser tag guns and accessories for different emulations. SATR3's system offers 285 emulations from a M60 general purpose machine gun to a wand that castes cure spells.

Favourite games like Team Death Match and Domination can now be played with up to seven teams can play in the one battle. More, this new generation offers new games such as Electronic Capture the Flag and Heist.

Lander adds “we have run field tests for up to 60 gamers at once. For instance I ran an event for 56 Navy Cadets and I found the players loved the Mystery box and random Perk Box. Gamers love getting a RPG with splash damage as well as in-game perks.”

A launch event for SATR3 is being held at Thunderbird Park on the Gold Coast on Wednesday 28th June 2017.
