AUSTSWIM introduces new aquatic fitness instructor training course
To meet the high demand for aquatic fitness instructors around the nation, AUSTSWIM has announced the introduction of its new Aqua Exercise Instructor course.
The leading swimming skills and water safety organisation launched a pilot of its revamped program in Sydney late last year, with its new course commencing next month (February) in Victoria, Queensland, NSW and South Australia.
Introducing the course, Julia Wood, Head of Training and Development at AUSTSWIM, advised “we are working hard to meet the nation-wide demand for pool-ready aqua swim teachers and will be rolling out more courses nationwide throughout the year.”
The AUSTSWIM Aqua Exercise Instructor course prepares students with the skills necessary to plan and lead safe, effective, and enjoyable group exercise sessions in water.
Wood says it’s ideal for anyone interested in working at fitness centres, gyms, community pools or aquatic and recreation facilities - who perhaps don’t want to get wet - and emphasises the benefits of low-impact exercise for long-term health for a broader audience.
With hands-on training led by experienced AUSTSWIM trainers, participants will gain the expertise and confidence needed to attract a diverse range of clients seeking quality aqua fitness programs.
The course is recognised and registered with AUSactive and provides successful candidates with 20 CECs (5 per UOC). It contains units of competency that are nationally recognised from the sport, fitness and recreation training package.
With over 40 years of experience training our nation’s swim teachers, AUSTSWIM is recognised as a leader in water safety and education. This new course fills a significant gap in aqua fitness training, offering professionals the chance to advance their careers while promoting health and wellness opportunities to a wider demographic in their communities.
The course can be completed in person over two full days, with three one-hour ‘meet the trainer’ sessions held online, before and after the course. Students who enrol in the course before April 2025 can do so for $695, saving $100. The regular price is $795.
