Australian Grand Prix the nation’s biggest ‘pop-up’ event

Gearing up for its key race tomorrow, the Formula 1® 2018 Rolex Australian Grand Prix has been described as the nation’s biggest pop-up event.

Being staged from 22nd to 25th March, the season-opening Forumula One race is offering a full program of off-track schedule to keep motorsport and event enthusiasts, as well as the youngest F1® fans entertained across the four days.

Australian Grand Prix Corporation Chief Executive Andrew Westacott, said the off-track entertainment line-up at this year’s event is second to none, advising “this year is looking to be bigger and better than ever, and while the world’s best drivers are battling it out for the chequered flag, fans will be spoilt for choice as they experience endless off-track entertainment.”

Back by popular demand, M-Lane will put Melbourne’s famed laneway, art and food culture on the global stage. In between track action, fans can visit the barbershop and monogramming pop-up, plus sit back and listen to the finest home-grown and international talent at the Heineken® Stage.

For the families who want an exciting, action-packed day out, children aged14 and under are free with any ticket-holding adult.

The Kids’ Corner is a family hangout with a range of sporting activities for the junior F1® fans to test their skills, as well as the Porsche Kids Driving School and Disney activations, sure to keep the whole family entertained.

Motorsport fans can also enjoy Porschestraße (Porsche Street), in the F1® Fan Zone, an all-new Porsche precinct featuring interactive experiences to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the first Porsche sports car.

The all-new Coates Hire Supercars Central, accessible for all event-goers, will ramp up the adrenalin as fans take a look at the Pirelli Formula 1® Tyre Fitting Bay Viewing Area and get a sneak peek of all of the epic cars ready to take to the track.

While there are plenty of selfie opportunities around the circuit, the money shot is at Melbourne Walk, where fans can get up close to the rocks stars of international racing each day of the event.

With so much happening on the ground, don’t forget to look up to witness the show-stopping acrobatics of the Royal Australian Air Force aerial displays. Fan favourites the F/A-18A Classic Hornet, PC-9 Roulettes and the Boeing C-17A Globemaster will all make their presence known.

For a spark of inspiration, the Industry and Innovation Precinct is the ultimate hub for fans to check out the latest in advanced technologies, with everything from drones, virtual reality and robots.

There is no doubt the Formula 1® 2018 Rolex Australian Grand Prix will be the place to be, as the global spotlight shines on Melbourne for a thrilling, action-packed, four-day event.
