ASM Global appoints new General Manager at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre

Luke Daniels, an executive with more than a decade of experience delivering world-class entertainment and sport in NSW, has been appointed the new General Manager of the Newcastle Entertainment Centre.

Announced today by ASM Global, the premier venue management and services company, which has managed the venue on behalf of Venues NSW since it opened in 1992, Daniels comes to the Newcastle Entertainment Centre following almost seven years at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney where he served as Commercial Manager and before that, as Sponsorship and Partnerships Manager.

Before joining ASM Global, Daniels worked in commercial roles with TomWaterhouse.com, Wests Tigers NRL club and the Illawarra Hawks NBL franchise.

Advising that the company was fortunate to have an executive of Daniels’ quality and experience to take on this key role, managing the nation’s premier regional entertainment arena, Harvey Lister,

Chairman and Chief Execuitve of ASM Global in the Asia Pacific region, stated "Newcastle Entertainment Centre is an important cultural and economic asset to the Newcastle and Hunter Valley region, which is the most significant regional hub in NSW.

“It was important to appoint a person with the commercial acumen in addition to strong management and leadership skills, to lead the team at the Centre and maximise the financial performance of the business. We were lucky to have such a person already within our organisation who we have been able to promote into this exciting role, and we think that he will do an exceptional job.”

Lister also paid tribute to the outgoing General Manager, Chris Blanch, advising “it is important we acknowledge Chris Blanch’s many years of dedicated service to the venue and the city of Newcastle. He leaves a legacy of fine achievements that Luke will aspire to build upon and we wish Chris the very best of luck in his new business venture.”

Daniels said he was grateful for and excited by the opportunity to expand upon the success achieved by Blanch and his team at the venue.

He added “I can’t wait to get stuck into the challenge. Newcastle is a great city and I’m honoured to be leading its foremost entertainment venue.”

He commences work in Newcastle next Monday, 14th October.
