Australasian Leisure Management names Southern PR top industry Public Relations Agency
Queenstown-based public relations and communications consultancy Southern PR has been named Australasia’s top industry public relations agency at the Australasian Leisure Management Communication and Marketing Awards.
The business, which earns media exposure for its clients through results-driven communications and marketing campaigns for a wide range of businesses throughout New Zealand, received the Public Relations Agency Award at an event at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium on Thursday 24th August.
Founded in 1996 by former London journalist Fiona Woodham, Southern PR’s expertise is in areas including media liaison, social media, crisis management, marketing, specialist writing, events and awards. The business helps clients navigate and communicate through today’s complex media world, offering full PR support and direction and identifying and forging complementary business relationships across a full range of business sectors.
Welcoming the Award, Woodham stated “this award recognises the work we do throughout Australasia in the tourism and leisure sectors.
"It's fantastic to be recognised in this way, although sadly we weren't able to be there on the night to celebrate with the other winners.
"We're thrilled to have worked with some of the biggest tourism businesses in the country to help spread the good word about who they are, and what a great job they do.
"Queenstown is at the forefront of tourism and leisure growth in New Zealand and we're growing with it.
"From adventure tourism companies to accommodation or luxury experience and events, we're working with the best in the industry."
Commenting on Southern PR’s Award, Australasian Leisure Management Publisher Nigel Benton, explained “we are on the receiving end of Southern PR’s efforts and they are consistently impressive.
“They do a wonderful, effective and industry-leading job on behalf of their clients in leisure and tourism and they are rightly being recognised for that.”
Southern PR’s client list includes: Destination Queenstown; Tourism New Zealand; ISPS Handa New Zealand Open; global accommodation brands IHG and AccorHotels; Millbrook Resort; NZSki; adventure tourism companies including Southern Discoveries, Ziptrek Ecotours and Skytrek Hang Gliding, Luxury Lodges of NZ property Mahu Whenua, Tekapo Springs and Gay Ski Week QT.
The Leisure Industry Communication and Marketing Awards acknowledge how the leisure industry - covering aquatics, attractions, entertainment, events, fitness, parks, recreation, sport, tourism and venues - communicates how it entertains, enriches and improves quality of life as well as how it engages with consumers to generate business success and deals with scrutiny.
Sydney-based Articulate PR won the Award in 2016.
