Aussie World purchases Sydney Easter Show's Giant Slide
Having launched its new Giant Redback thrill ride last month, Sunshine Coast amusement park Aussie World has announced it has purchased the Sydney Royal Easter Show's much loved Giant Slide.
The 50 metre long slide will be one of three rides opening at Aussie World during 2011, the $2 million investment in the rides reinforcing the park as a major regional attraction.
General Manager David Thompson explains that the purchase of these new attractions will entice more visitors to come to the Sunshine Coast and to stay for longer.
"Due to our management principles and unique diversity of the complex, such as such as being the largest off site function venue on the Coast, we are successfully forging ahead and are able to make this significant investment.
"We will also remain an affordable and fun day out by not increasing our gate entrance prices."
The sale of the Giant Slide came about when Fred Pittroff, the long time operator of the ride at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, was advised by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW to dismantle and remove the attraction at the end of the 2011 Show.
It is understood that the Giant Slide's site at the Sydney Showground is to be lost as a result of building works to expand the Showground's Main Arena.
The Giant Slide was advertised for sale on this website.
