Territory Wildlife Park reopens following renovation

Territory Wildlife Park reopens following renovation

The Territory Wildlife Park, situated south of Darwin and on 625 hectares of native bush next to Berry Springs Nature Park, has reopened following renovation works that have given the nature space a new look and safer facilities.

The $2.8 million revamp includes essential repair work and modernisation of facilities including:

  • refurbishing the inside of the gift shop, admissions desk and café with new lay-out and new flooring;

  • reconfiguring and updating the visitor toilets to ensure they comply with modern accessibility requirements;

  • new alignments for accessible carpark bays in the visitor carpark;

  • improved wet weather access; and

  • new compliant ramp built for visitor access to Park transportation;

While the Territory Wildlife Park has reopened in time for school holidays, additional upgrades will be undertaken in the coming weeks including to the Monsoon Forest area, and animal exhibits.

Northern Territory Minister for Parks and Rangers Selena Uibo notes “The Territory Wildlife Park is a much-loved Top End icon which has been well used by generations of Territory families.

“The new-look is both modern and functional and provides for enhanced visitor experience.

“While the Park has been closed for renovations for about nine weeks, it has opened just in time for school holidays and I’m sure there will be many families keen to visit the biodiverse animal and plant exhibits in this peaceful setting.”
