Upgrades to commence at Territory Wildlife Park

To enhance customer experience and accessibility, Territory Wildlife Park will be upgraded with works commencing at the end of this month. Territory Wildlife Park is a 45-minute drive south of Darwin and occupies 625 hectares of native bush adjacent to the Berry Springs Nature Park.

The upgrades will see a full renovation of the main station and entry area, and as a result, the Park will be temporarily closing for approximately six weeks from 31st January.

The works are part of a $2.8 million capital works investment which will see essential repair work undertaken and will also improve accessibility, making it easier for everyone to enjoy the park.

Included in the upgrades are:

  • Refurbishing the inside of the gift shop, admissions desk and café with new lay-out, new flooring for a contemporary look-and-feel

  • Reconfiguring and updating the visitor toilets to ensure they comply with modern accessibility requirements

  • New alignments for accessible carpark bays in the visitor carpark.

  • Improved wet weather access

  • New compliant ramp built for visitor access to Park transportation

The works will be undertaken by local company Ashford McLean Design Construct and are anticipated to be completed by mid-March.

All currently valid memberships will be extended for the period that the Park is closed.

Northern Territory Minister for Parks and Rangers Selena Uibo notes “The Territory Wildlife Park is a highlight on the must-do lists of both travellers and Territorians.

“We want to ensure that people of all ages and mobility are able to enjoy everything the Park has to offer.

“The upgrades will provide a much-needed face-lift, improve water use efficiency while also improving accessibility to the Park.”
