AUSactive partners with Sports Medicine Australia for discounted access to First Aid and CPR training
Peak body for the exercise and active health sector, AUSactive, has partnered with Sports Medicine Australia (SMA) to offer its professional and student members discounted access to high-quality First Aid and CPR training.
Sports Medicine Australia is Australia’s peak national body for sports medicine and sports science.
The collaboration between AUSactive and SMA underscores a shared commitment to professional development, safety, and the health and wellbeing of all Australians.
Through this new member benefit, AUSactive members can now access significant discounts on SMA’s nationally recognised training programs, designed to build confidence and capability in managing emergency situations in fitness and active health environments.
SMA Chief Executive Jamie Crain (pictured above) said the new partnership was about supporting ongoing, contemporary education and equipping professionals with vital skills.
Crain noted “Sports Medicine Australia is pleased to partner with AUSactive to deliver Nationally Recognised Training for AUSactive members, supporting the continuous education of those working across active-health, fitness and exercise industry.
“A critical part of the job is knowing how to respond when something goes wrong - and through access to high-quality First Aid, CPR, and injury prevention training, this partnership builds confidence and provides essential skills and professional development opportunities for gym owners, personal trainers, and exercise professionals.
“Both our organisations are deeply committed to improving the health and wellbeing of Australians through knowledge, education and safe participation in exercise. This partnership is a strong reflection of that shared purpose and mission.”
AUSactive Chief Executive Barrie Elvish welcomed the collaboration, saying it provides direct and tangible value to AUSactive’s members while reinforcing industry standards.
Elvish added “we are delighted to join forces with Sports Medicine Australia to provide our members with more affordable access to First Aid and CPR qualifications.
“Safety is a non-negotiable in our industry. Equipping our professionals with the best possible training to manage health emergencies not only enhances their competence and confidence - it protects the people they work with every day.
“This partnership is an important step in expanding member benefits and supporting lifelong learning. We’re excited to explore further ways to work with SMA to advance the health of our communities through safe, inclusive, and professional services.”
This initiative marks the beginning of a broader collaboration between AUSactive and SMA, with both organisations actively exploring additional ways to work together in support our industry and the Australian public.
