ASGA Conference to address best practice in sports retailing

The 2011 Annual Sporting Goods and Sports Industry Conference is to be held at Melbourne's Kew Golf Course on Thursday 29th September 2011.

The theme of this year's conference will be 'Best Practice' and the conference will focus on topics such as; retail, sustainability, trends and market analysis, the digital economy, advocacy and opportunity.

The keynote speaker at the conference will be Kevin Sheedy, inaugural coach of the Greater Western Sydney AFL team

Other speakers include:

• Tara Allsop, Managing Director, Green For Retail
• Andy Turnbull, Sports Hydrant Pty Ltd
• Bonnie Ryan, Industry Manager, GS1 - who will explain how the best practice supply chain is about having the right product, in the right place, at the right time at the
• Ian Krawitz, Director, 10thousand Group
• Stan Moore, Chief Executive, National Packaging Covenant Industry Association
• Reid Elliott, acting Director Digital Economy Policy, Department of Broadband and Communications and the Digital Economy
• Mark Fletcher, Tower Systems

The conference is a rare opportunity for the industry and the membership of the Australian Sporting Goods Association (ASGA) to come together. As sport policy and funding in Australia move into a new phase, and preventative health and sports participation gain a focus and prominence on the national agenda, the conference will consider the impact of these changes on the sporting goods and sports industries.

Introducing the conference, ASGA General Manager Brad Kitschke explains "our industry faces the challenges of a changing market and a recovering economy it remains vital that opportunities to network, share ideas and work toward facing the challenges of the future are supported by the industry."

The ASGA Annual General Meeting will be held at the conclusion of the conference and all members are encouraged to attend.
