International Swim Schools Association expands board of advisors
The International Swim Schools Association (ISSA), recently established by the Australian Swim Schools Association (ASSA) in partnership with the United States Swim Schools Association (USSSA), has appointed two new members to ISSA’s Board of Advisors - Miren Oca and Mark Saunders.
Immediate past President of the USSSA, Miren Oca, said of her appointment “I am excited and honored to be a member of this great team ... and very happy to see the organisation of such a global group in the learn-to-swim community.
“I am honoured to be a member of an organisation that unifies the global learn to swim community. I am excited at the opportunities to learn from people around the world who share the same passion for teaching swimming and making families safer around the water”.
On accepting his invitation, New Zealand’s Mark Saunders commented “to be a member of the International Swim Schools Association is a huge honour as I value the education of our swim management and teachers highly.
“Being part of an International group provides a huge opportunity to expand and strengthen the swim management and teacher knowledge base worldwide.
“As the swim school industry continues to grow, the sharing of ideas and expertise is the best way to raise the profile of learn to swim. I am excited to be included in such a prestigious group and look forward to assisting in whatever way I can.”
Oca and Saunders join Ulrika Faerch, Sweden, Sharron Crowley, Canada; Rafaele Madormo, Brazil; and Julie Zancanaro, Australia on the Board of Advisors.
ISSA’s Honorary Secretary, Ross Gage, said that the appointments “where people of the highest caliber in the Swim Schools Industry and reflected ISSA’s aim to ensure global reach.
