New trails and amenities open at Perth Hill’s John Forrest National Park
Western Australia's inaugural national park - John Forrest National Park situated in the Perth Hills - has received a makeover with a new day-use area and trails now open to visitors.
John Forrest National Park is a major attraction with around 130,000 visitors per year already. The improved visitor experience, with active and passive recreational opportunities and better parking is anticipated to boost the range of tourism opportunities available in the Hills.
Upgrades at John Forrest National Park in Perth's hills include:
Noolbenger trail, a new 16km off-road cycle trail now for cyclists and runners;
Little Eagle trail, a new 8km loop trail;
realignments, maintenance, and extension works to the popular Eagle View, Wildflower and Glen Brook trails;
landscaped gardens; and
accessible picnic and barbecue facilities.
Construction of a new, 730-metre access road is also underway and is due to be completed in the first half of this year.
These upgrades come following the recent award of a $1.7 million contract to construct a 270-bay carpark which will be built to the west of Glen Brook and the park's existing visitor precinct parking area.
Work on the carpark is due to commence in March and is expected to be complete in late-2024.
