Blue Mountains aquatic facility closed after attendance by positive COVID-19 case

Blue Mountains City Council has advised that the Katoomba Sports and Aquatic Centre has been close after a positive COVID-19 case attended the facility on 4th September.

The Council has urged people who attended the facility to self-isolate immediately, noting on Facebook that after notification of the case that anyone at the Centre between 11:30am and 1:30pm last Friday should quarantine until 18th September and get tested.

It also advised that the facility had been closed for cleaning.

Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said it would be a "nervous time" for the community and staff present that day, telling the ABC “our team will be giving them every support possible and liaising with NSW Health throughout the quarantine period.”

Earlier today, NSW health authorities confirmed 10 new cases of Coronavirus, warning COVID-19 "continues to circulate in the community".

While aquatic facilities in NSW can operate with restrictions, those in Victoria are unlikely to be able to open until at least 26th October - with the exception of outdoor regional pools which can reopen from Monday.
