Aquatics and Recreation Victoria proceeds with hosting 28th January Industry Gala Awards

Aquatics and Recreation Victoria (ARV) has advised that it is to proceed with hosting its 2021 Industry Gala Awards at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on 28th January.

Explaining that it is “excited’ to be hosting the industry events, ARV state that the in-person event will feature “some important changes”, noting “the decision to implement these changes and increased restrictions by the Victorian Government is based on health advice and due to a heightened coronavirus risk landscape.

“ARV believe it is highly important to recognise and celebrate the past two years' achievements through such difficult and challenging times. The event will be a sit-down dinner with music and entertainment, and unfortunately, we cannot have a dance floor in 2022, like our usual industry celebration.”

The event will operate under the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre’s MCEC VenueSafe protocols, with the following safety measures:

• Seated indoor events - density quotient: of 1 person per 2 sqm

• Masks are mandatory on-site at all times, when not eating or drinking unless you have a medical reason preventing you to do so

• COVID check-in Marshall in position at event entry to verify completion of Service Vic QR code

• All guests must be double-vaccinated

• All events held at MCEC must adhere to the requirements of MCEC’s venue-specific approved COVIDSafe plan

• Limited tickets available

• Increased hygiene protocols

• Spacially distanced tables

ARV notes that it “will be fully complying with MCEC restrictions and policies, as well as those imposed by the Victorian Government (which) are subject to change at short notice.”
