Aligned Leisure and Richmond FC offer PHD Scholarship into improving health outcomes
Swinburne University of Technology, in partnership with Richmond FC, Aligned Leisure, Cardinia Shire Council and the City of Casey is to undertake a unique combined research project that will examine ways in which fitness centre management can be improved to drive better health outcomes for centre members.
As part of the project, the Aligned Leisure is offering a PhD scholarship to a candidate who will be tasked with integrating the sophisticated data currently being collected by centres showing visitation and activity at visit, with survey data to segment the facility patrons and understand the drivers of customer retention, engagement and positive health outcomes.
The project is looking to take the learnings from the AFL’s segmentation framework and apply them to a community health and fitness setting.
The project partners are seeking a higher-degrees-by-research student with exceptional research potential who has a strong desire to work with industry to improve community health and fitness industry management practices.
Top up funding may also be accessible for the right candidate.
Demonstrated ability in the following areas is favoured:
1. An academic background in management, marketing or organisational psychology including a research degree (honours or masters) in a relevant field.
2. An interest in, and knowledge of, the health and fitness industry
3. Work experience in organisations relevant to this project (such as fitness centres, local councils or professional sporting organisations).
Aligned Leisure is a 100% owned subsidiary company of the Richmond Football Club, established as a vehicle to manage the operations of Richmond’s health, fitness and leisure business activities. Aligned Leisure currently manages 8 Aquatic & Recreation facilities in the Cardinia Shire.
