Additional equipment adorns City of Kwinana outdoor gym

The City of Kwinana has completed the installation of additional equipment at the Wellard Outdoor Gym thanks to funding from the Healthy Communities Initiative.

Featuring an additional stepper, rowing machine, ezy rider and leg press, the equipment is an extension of the existing track, providing residents with further opportunities to get fit, increase flexibility and improve balance.

Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams explained "the Wellard Outdoor Gym is a real asset to Kwinana, with the additional equipment allowing more residents to utilise it at any one time.

“The City encourages residents to stay active and enjoy the outdoors, and I was very pleased to recently launch the Active Outdoor Booklet with the City of Rockingham.”

Designed for adults and children over 12 years, the City requests all users of the outdoor gym to read the instructions provided on each piece of equipment and to remember the exercise basics of maintaining good posture and good technique.

Other tips for users include warm up, wear appropriate clothing, work to your own ability and to seek medical advice if you have any health concerns before beginning.
