State aquatic bodies partner with Life's Little Treasures Foundation

State aquatic bodies Aquatics & Recreation Victoria (ARV) and the Australian Leisure Facilities Association Queensland (ALFAQ) have each partnered with registered charity, Life's Little Treasures Foundation (LLTF) with the aim of boosting the confidence of pre-school children in and around water.

The collaborative partnership also aims to raise vital funds for LLTF to continue supporting families of premature and sick babies.

As part of the alliance, LLTF will work with ALFAQ in Queensland and ARV in Victoria to promote Peppa Pig's 'The Big Splash', a fun campaign which encourages children to be sponsored to splash in the water like Australia's most popular children's character `Peppa Pig'.

Commenting on the link, ALFAQ Executive Officer Stephen Butler stated "partnerships like this go to re-enforcing how industry peak bodies can assist organisations such as LLT to get the word out about such initiatives."

ARV Chief Executive Ian Swan added "we are thrilled to be working with Life's Little Treasures. The Foundation's services are critical to the community and play a pivotal role in giving vulnerable families the support and assistance they desperately need."

LLTF Chief Executive Shusannah Morris continued "each year, in Australia, around 45,000 premature and sick newborns require medical support in Neonatal Intensive Care or Special Care nurseries. Having a child that is premature or sick places a great emotional and financial burden on that family. Help of peak bodies such as ALFAQ has made The Big Splash campaign possible. With the funds raised, more families will receive the much needed support they require to ensure the best outcome for their baby."

The Big Splash will be publically launched in February 2014 and will run throughout Australia from the 1st March to 30th April. Aquatics centres will be encouraged to host their Big Splash event during the last week of the first term of the school calendar.
