AALARA 2019 Conference and Trade Show looks to restore attractions sector confidence
With Australia’s attractions and theme park have endured a challenging couple of years, the annual conference of the Australian Amusement, Leisure and Recreation Association (AALARA) is looking to restore confidence in the sector with a stimulating and informative program, backed by the event’s bi-annual trade show.
Set to be released in the coming week, the AALARA 2019 Conference program will include industry leaders from around the globe, sharing their experience of exciting developments in the industry as well as examples of how challenged brands have gone about restoring consumer trust and reinvigorating their reputation.
Already confirmed are: Clark Kirby of Village Roadshow Theme Parks, experiences entrepreneur Lynton V Harris, ASTM representatives Ben Sheldon, Katerina Koperno and Cindy Sypher, Tim Newman-Morris of Lollipops Playland, Sean McKeogh, Chris Zumwalt of BridgeClimb, Adrian Summers of Warner Bros. Movie World and Andrew Ross of URBNSurf.

Active Financial and Life Members of AALARA Inc. are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting to discuss the business and future direction of the Association.
AALARA Gold Service Award Nominations
The AALARA Gold Service Award is awarded to a financial Member of the Association to recognise outstanding/long term service to the industry in the form of:
a. The development of professional and operational standards within the industry, or
b. The creation of employment and successful amusement, leisure and recreational attractions that have assisted the economic development of the industry, or
c. Any outstanding service to the industry that the AALARA board may recognise
If the Gold Service Award is agreed upon by the Board, it will be presented at the AALARA 2019 Gala Dinner being held at The Star Gold Coast on the evening of Wednesday 22nd May.
Gold Service Award nominations close at 5pm on 16th April 2019.
Call for AALARA Board Nominations
The AALARA Board of Directors requests nominations for four AALARA Board of Directors positions which will commence May 2019.
To be eligible as a candidate for a Board of Director position the following criteria apply:
• Be a financial Member of AALARA in good standing for a minimum of 12 months at the time of nomination
• Be committed to attend all Board Meetings and conference calls (four in-person meetings per year)
• Actively participate throughout the year
• Support the mission, vision, values, and goals of AALARA.
Board member responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Attend all in-person Board meetings and participate in all conference calls each year as specified in the bylaws
• Attend activities, special events, Board retreats, and general membership meetings
• Fairly consider other points of view, make constructive suggestions, reach consensus, and help the Board make decisions that AALARA, AALARA members, or others served by the AALARA mission
• Assume Board leadership roles
• Represent and promote AALARA to individuals, the public, Industry and other organisations
Any member of AALARA may nominate an individual, including themselves.
AALARA Board nominations close at midnight on Tuesday 16th April 2019.
