2,500 Australians complete Genesis Fitness Clubs' body transformation challenge

With 2,500 Australians having now completed Genesis Fitness Clubs' Your New Beginnings (YNB) Body Transformation challenge, 45 high achievers have been crowned winners at 45 Genesis clubs, each being judged as having achieved the best body transformation in their local club.

With each of the winners in the second YNB receiving a $1,000, one Genesis member has gone further, achieving the ultimate 'new beginning', winning $25,000 in cash and prizes. 

Gary Zeibel from Genesis Doncaster in Victoria is the Genesis Fitness Clubs' second YNB winner losing an amazing 44.9kg, 32% of his overall body weight.

Genesis Fitness Clubs National Sales & Marketing Manager David Galbally explains "the contest was tightly fought and, though it sounds like a cliché, there are hundreds of lives that have been changed over the past three months, through dedication, hard work and a lot of sweat!"

Among other fantastic results, the 45 finalist lost a combined 867kg, on average 19kg each. The top 10 finalist lost an outstanding average of 26kg each. 

Genesis Chief Executive Ian Jensen-Muir was thrilled with the outcome saying “this is a fantastic reminder of why we come to work every day, to provide fitness solutions to our members. 

"Hundreds of Genesis staff have been working hard for three months to motivate and support our members on this journey, thank you. 

"To our members who have given themselves a new beginning, enjoy your new release on life and congratulations. You have inspired so many people and you are evidence that if you put your mind to it, anyone can have a new beginning”

With 63% of Australians estimated to be overweight or obese Genesis stress the importance of celebrating the success of those who are making the effort to improve their health. 

Galbally adds "initiatives like Your New Beginning bring weight loss out of the dark and give every day Australians a chance to be fit and healthy. 

"The YNB Challenge shows that before and after photos are not a trick. There are no spray tans and photo shop imagery in our clubs. Just motivated staff who are always there to help our members achieve a healthier lifestyle."

In the case of Gary Zeibel his motivation to transform came after receiving a severe shock from a health test. Realising that he was putting his life in danger, Gary is now being able to be completely hugged by his wife!
