Northern Territory Major Events Company grows industry capability
The Northern Territory’s events portfolio and industry capability is being enhanced, with Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC) hosting the first in a series of seminars addressing event risk management.
The seminar was held in Darwin on 28th November and attended by more than 100 event industry representatives.
Leading industry event risk management expert Wayne Middleton of Reliance Risk provided an outline of the legislative requirements, as well as practical tools and templates to help event organisers identify, mitigate and manage event risks.
NTMEC General Manager Tim Watsford said the seminar was a great success, advising “events are important to the Territory, as they drive visitation, community involvement and importantly, the local economy.
“A key focus of NTMEC’s strategy is to grow the events portfolio and industry capability in the Territory by providing leadership, advice and support.”
Artback NT Executive Officer Louise Partos was one of the seminar’s attendees and found the presentation to be extremely beneficial, adding “we have already begun discussing some changes and additions to the way we are doing things so it will have a positive impact on our practice.”
Additional event seminars will be held in both Darwin and Alice Springs over the next 12 months, with dates to be confirmed next year.
