2/3 of Fitness Clubs Run at a Loss
Fitness club marketing expert Amanda Bracks has told Australasian Leisure Management that "that only a third of health clubs in Australia are making profit" adding that âif you are not in this group the Health Club Business Summit can help on to this path, or continue along your path if you are succeeding."
Bracks' declaration of fitness/health club performance is based upon Fitness Australia's 2008 Fitness Industry Profile, but she feels that her own experience shows that fitness clubs don't have to perform that way.
Bracks (pictured above) recalls, "15 years ago I entered the health club industry selling memberships and changing people's lives.
"Within the year I was managing health clubs and making a massive impact on membership growth increasing my first club from 1,800 to over 4,500 members and from 40 personal training session to over 200 per week. The thrill of seeing members achieve their goals just continually fuelled my passion to get on the phone and ring more people, make more appointments and help people get involved on their own health and fitness journey.
"I have been sharing the secretes of my success to many people all over the country for the past ten years and now it's all I do. Changing Lives, the book I wrote to help membership consultants and business owners has sold over one thousand copies. To walk my talk and show people that âit can be doneâ I even got on the phone in a club on Tuesday and booked 16 appointments within two hours and they were from two year old lead box slips. It can be done and easily!"
Last year, along with entrepreneur and health club expert Curtis Mock; and Chris Batchelor - Vice President and Operating Partner of Vitality Marketing Group, a leading marketing, consulting and promotional firm in the fitness industry; Amanda took her message on the road, presenting the Health Club Business Summit.
