Tourism Fiji releases new campaign produced by BBC StoryWorks

Tourism Fiji has released a new campaign produced by BBC StoryWorks which shows audiences a different side to the island nation beyond its idyllic beaches and world-class surf breaks

The campaign highlights how the authentic cultural experiences unique to Fiji can leave visitors feeling enriched and revitalised in new and unexpected ways.

Tourism Fiji have been running their successful brand platform ‘Where happiness comes naturally’ since 2022, heroing the country's people and culture.

This new BBC StoryWorks campaign leans into this platform, showing how the people of Fiji are the real stars. BBC StoryWorks is the award-winning commercial content studio of the BBC, working with brands around the globe to tell their stories to audiences outside of the UK. This content expertise coupled with the distribution solutions available across BBC Studios’ global network including linear, digital, audio, social and connected TV mean these stories can be taken to over 400 million people around the world, in highly trusted and effective mediums.

To help convey Tourism Fiji’s message, BBC StoryWorks spoke to Fijians involved in the tourism industry and asked them how they found happiness in moments when they are connecting with the land, culture and those around them. Through a 3-part video series, immersive audio, and article series, audiences are invited to see the real Fiji. Professional surfer Hannah Bennett, musician Danny Jason and hiking guide Seini Nonu all share their personal stories of why Fiji is such a special place.

Highlights from the campaign include:

  • Sega na Leqa (No worries): Fijian surfer Hannah Bennett on finding happiness

  • The land has stories: Explore Biausevu Waterfall with walking guide Seini Nonu

  • Music is who we are: Fijian musician Danny Jason on staying happy

  • The big blue: Finding happiness deep in the Pacific

  • 'Mai kana' (Let's Eat): A tour through Fiji's culinary renaissance

  • A holiday with a difference: Get an authentic taste of Fijian culture

The campaign is currently reaching audiences across Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the US.

Elise Matheson, Content Manager of BBC StoryWorks ANZ noted “Working with Tourism Fiji to bring this to life was such a dream, and it’s been a pleasure for the BBC Studios AdSales and StoryWorks team to help tell their story to BBC audiences. The BBC is renowned for storytelling that inspires people and changes perspectives, and we wanted to do the same thing here, through content that got to the heart of what makes Fiji special.

“The multi-media, multi-channel avenues offered by BBC Studios means that tailored versions of this campaign will appear across the BBC’s digital channels including BBC.com, the BBC app, FAST channels, YouTube, social media and our podcast network. The idea is to reach audiences with Tourism Fiji’s story on the platforms most personal to them – we are uniquely positioned to do that at BBC Studios.”

Srishti Narayan, Chief Marketing Officer at Tourism Fiji added “we are lucky that Fiji is a place where happiness comes naturally and sharing those joyful moments with audiences across the world is an exciting prospect. We are so pleased that the quality of production of these stories by BBC StoryWorks means engaged BBC audiences are being shown authentic, inspiring content that heroes our people and landscape, inviting them to come and experience it for themselves.”
