Youth Aquatic Accreditation Program provides free swim teacher training to young Victorians
Providing free swim teacher training for young people aged 17 to 25, the Victorian Government’s Youth Aquatic Accreditation Program is currently inviting applications from interested participants.
Offer an entry point for young people that allows them to pursue or continue career opportunities in the aquatic sector, the Program has been supported through the Victorian Budget 2022/23 to deliver the Victorian Government’s Our Promise, your future: Victoria’s youth strategy 2022-27.
The program is part of a wider range of initiatives to ensure more Victorians get the chance to learn swimming basics including the VICSWIM Summer Kidz Program and the Get Active Kids Voucher program, which are lowering the barriers to participation and making swimming lessons accessible to all Victorians regardless of socio-economic status, location and cultural background.
In practice, applications are accepted from Victorian councils and learn to swim schools directly operating in public, private or school facilities on behalf of prospective swim teachers.
To date, the Program has had over 50 successful applications.
The Program provides funding for Swimming and Water Safety Teacher course and Promote development of infants and toddlers in an aquatic environment, and in addition renewals of Swimming and Water Safety Teacher are also covered within the Program.
Applications can be made at any time until 5pm, 31st May 2023
