YMCA of Sydney changes name to YMCA NSW

The YMCA of Sydney has changed its name to the YMCA NSW, reflecting the growth of the not-for-profit community organisations across NSW.

Announcing the name change, NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell stated "the YMCA is a vibrant and innovative charity and (in) challenging times, it is a charity that is continually expanding its presence in NSW.

"60% of the Y's services are now outside of the Sydney metropolitan area (so) to reflect this state-wide presence, I am delighted to ... to announce the renaming of YMCA of Sydney to YMCA NSW."

Premier O'Farrell also congratulated the YMCA on their 160 years of service to the people of NSW, highlighting that the 'Y' attracts more than four million visits a year to its family-focused recreation centres, vacation care and out-of-school hours care centres and camps across NSW.
