World Netball launches foundation to enhance possibilities through sport

The current Netball World Cup 2023 in the South African city of Cape Town has seen World Netball launch a new charitable arm, the World Netball Foundation.

Aiming to deliver commitments in World Netball’s 2019-2023 strategy to “harness the power of netball to change lives”, the Foundation will set out to use the reach of netball to deliver positive and lasting outcomes via three core, inter-linked strategies:

Individuals - creating programs and initiatives which give diverse people opportunities to access new learning and personal development experiences which will positively impact their lives.

Communities - creating supportive and inclusive netball spaces where everyone belongs, their opinion matters, and they feel valued by coaches, mentors and peers.

Societies - creating alliances with like-minded partners, collaborating to achieve greater impact in developing and supporting global policies for achieving societal change through sport.

Advising that it will also focus on aligning its outcomes aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), World Netball President and World Netball Foundation Chair, Dame Liz Nicholl stated “the launch of the WN Foundation is a crucial step forward in our commitment to using netball as a vehicle to drive positive change around the world

"We firmly believe in the power of our sport to transform lives, and through the World Netball Foundation we will be able to extend our reach and make an even greater impact on individuals, communities, and societies.

"It’s a privilege to be part of this journey and I look forward to seeing the World Netball Foundation flourish as it sets out to develop partnerships to support delivery of its ambitious strategy.”

The on-going Netball World Cup 2023, which started on 28th July, will end on 6th August.
