Work commences on new Kellyville sporting complex

Work is now underway on the Balmoral Road Reserve Sports Complex in Kellyville which when complete will cater to a number of sports and also include an amenities building; a childen’s playground and shared cycling and walking paths.  

Bulk earthworks are being carried out and will continue over the coming months. Once complete, construction work will commence on the amenities buildings, entry roadwork, car park and the sporting fields.

Balmoral Road Reserve Sports Complex has been made possible thanks to a funding boost from the NSW Government as part of the Accelerated Infrastructure Fund (AIF).  

The AIF assists Councils in co-funding and accelerating the delivery of critical local community infrastructure, including roads, stormwater infrastructure and public open space, while also providing jobs and boosting the economy in the process.   

Baulkham Hills State MP David Elliott said the funding will improve active recreational spaces and enable more people to participate in grassroots sport in the community and noted “I’m excited about the opportunities the funding will provide to locals and sporting organisations as more people participate in grassroots sport to stay active, healthy and have fun.”

Mayor of the Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne thanked the NSW Government for their contribution towards the project and added “this is a testament to what’s possible when local and state government work together. I thank the NSW Government for making this dream of a project a reality for the people of Kellyville and the wider Hills community.

“Seeing the early stages of the fields emerging is a really exciting moment, and I know our residents are itching to use this new sporting facility very soon.”

The new complex will include:

• Tennis courts and multi-use ball courts;
• Multi-purpose fields, including cricket ovals;
• An amenities building containing change rooms, public toilets, a kiosk, storage and a meeting room;
• 245-space car park;
• Children’s playground, picnic facilities and a kick about area; and
• Shared pedestrian/cycling paths with lighting linking into the local trails network.
