Work begins on Emirates Spa Resort

Emirates Airlines (EA) has begun the development of a $80 million luxury Wolgan Valley Resort and Spa in Australia's Blue Mountains.

Wolgan Valley is the second conservation-focused property within the Emirates Hotels & Resorts group, EA's hospitality division.

Created over more than 4,000 acres of distressed farmland, 2% of that area will be used to create an exclusive resort of 40 free-standing suites and a main homestead, featuring a Timeless Spa and a swimming pool area as well as a restaurant.

The remaining land will be progressively restored to its natural state with the reintroduction of native fauna and flora.

The resort is anticipated to welcome its first guests in 2009.
