Wingtons introduces ‘glamping’ to Tasmania

A unique new glamping (luxury/glamourous camping) location has opened at Clarence Point in Tasmania, based on cluster of five metre bell tents, fully equipped with queen-sized beds and Egyptian cotton 1000 thread-count sheets for the most luxurious night’s sleep.

Located 45 minutes north of Launceston, the new Wingtons location offers easy access to the local airport for interstate and international travellers while the Spirit of Tasmania docks at Devonport - only 50 minutes away.

Other elements of the glamping experience include a European eco-friendly wood heater to warm each tent, while BOSE speakers and a Weber barbecue help to ensure that glampers are still in touch with their urban conveniences. Each bell tent also comes with its own private 4 metre tipi tent, with a fully-functioning bathroom comprising of a flushing toilet and a gas-powered shower.

The Clarence Point location is not only more picturesque but is also located on a major wine route with more than 30 vineyards, while those who prefer to be at one with nature can go bushwalking through local national parks and meander along miles of white sandy beaches only 10 minutes away, not to mention the abundance of wildlife on the site.

Clarence Point is a perfect location for fishing and watersports and the entire area is also criss-crossed with a myriad of cycling routes. Regular yacht races are also held by the yacht club at Beauty Point, all of which can be seen perfectly from the tents.

Wingtons co-owner Nathaniel Wicks, explains “we’re thrilled to be launching our brand new glamping site this year, and look forward to giving our visitors an original glamping experience the way it used to be done.

“We’ve made every effort to recreate an authentic slice of luxury into the Tasmanian countryside, creating that ‘boutique hotel’ feel, with the additional bonus of abundant nature and wildlife right on your doorstep.

“This is camping at its very finest, with no expense spared in ensuring that our guests have a truly memorable break here at Wingtons.”

Business partner and co-founder Graham Kington adds “whether you’re coming to us for a romantic retreat, a family break or even a solo expedition, you’ll enjoy fantastic hospitality, wonderful views and premium comfort out here in Tasmania.”
