Architect appointed to design new performing arts centre and sports hall at Pinjarra school

The Western Australian Government has announced that Bunbury based architectural firm MCG Architects has been selected to design a $10.38 million performing arts centre and sports hall at Pinjarra Senior High School.

The new permanent facilities will be designed to provide much-needed modern facilities including teaching spaces for music, drama and dance including a green room, music classroom and practice rooms, kitchen facilities, staff areas, secure storage, change rooms, student and staff toilets.

More than 800 students will benefit from the new facilities at the school, located in the state's Peel region 85 kilometres south east of Perth.

With the project now in the planning stage, construction is expected to be completed during the 2022 school year.

Advising that the project is part of the state government's WA Recovery Plan, Western Australian Education and Training Minister, Sue Ellery stated "the students and staff at Pinjarra Senior High School will thrive in this much-needed centre and Western Australians will benefit from the jobs that are being created.

"The new performing arts centre will allow students to explore their creative talents and give them fantastic facilities in which to excel in sports.

"I know staff and parents will be thrilled the students will get to use this modern facility."
