Wet’n’Wild Gold Coast set to mark 40th birthday

Gold Coast waterpark Wet’n’Wild is approaching a weekend celebration of 40 years of operations.

Having been officially opening on 30th September 1984 as Cades County WaterPark, over its four decades, Wet’n’Wild has been Australia’s premier water park and brought joy and memories to generations of visitors through an array of world-class slides, pools and attractions.

It was renamed as Wet’n’Wild in 1986.

Stating that the 40 year milestone will see the attraction mark the special occasion with a celebration at its Wave Pool with a specially themed 40th birthday cake, Village Roadshow Theme Parks Chief Operating Officer, Bikash Randhawa advised “Wet’n’Wild is an iconic part of Australia’s tourism industry and we are excited to celebrate this major milestone with our guests and team members.

“Since opening, we have seen tens of millions of visitors come through the gates and employed thousands of team members.

“Throughout Wet’n’Wild’s history, the park has been at the forefront of the Australian water park industry from opening Australia’s first wave pool in 1984, through to the opening of Australia’s tallest water slide tower in 2021.

“The birthday is a great opportunity for us to look back and celebrate the park’s long and wonderful history, but we are also eagerly looking forward to the park’s bright future and getting ready for a bumper summer season.”
