Western Australian Government opens grants for local conservation initiatives

The Western Australian Government is supporting community efforts to conserve and enhance the state’s environment with $7 million available for local projects.

Applications are now open for the 2025 State Natural Resource Management Program's Community Stewardship Grants.

The program supports community-led conservation initiatives across the state that help protect and restore coastal, agricultural, pastoral, urban, bushland, river, estuarine and marine environments.

Grants of up to $50,000 are available for short-term activities and up to $450,000 for longer-term projects.

The grants recognise the knowledge, volunteer efforts and strong partnerships within local communities to support the sustainable management of WA's natural resources.

The program is open to a wide range of groups including community and volunteer organisations, industry bodies, local governments, and schools.

Over the past seven years, $53.2 million worth of Community Stewardship Grants has supported more than 450 grassroots not-for-profit and volunteer projects that care for the State's diverse and valuable natural assets, from the Kimberley to the Great Southern.

Applications close 12 noon Monday, 7th April 2025.
