Wellington Library Outdoor Living Room officially opens
Dubbo Regional Council officially opened the Wellington Library Outdoor Living Room on 23rd April 2022 which offers a multi-purpose outdoor lounge area for events and a community meeting space.
The Wellington Library Outdoor Living Room was designed by Council staff who envisaged a green garden outdoor area that maintained the connection with Cameron Park and mirrored features such as timber fencing and the paving of the new playground.
Local contractors that were engaged to deliver this project include, Dubbo Landscaping, Barnson, Redfern Power Solutions, All Aspects Concreting and Earthworks, EJF Welding Dubbo, Darling Irrigations Dubbo and R&D Glass Wellington.
The new outdoor area is comfortable and welcoming with timber seating and tables, a variety of plantings and soft landscaping to provide a tranquil and aesthetically appealing environment.
Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Mathew Dickerson said the outdoor space will accommodate a range of community needs and noted “the outdoor living lounge room is an excellent area for individuals or community groups to utilise, I can see many uses for this area including business meetings, library events, story times and much more.”
The Wellington Library Outdoor Living Room was delivered in partnership with Australian Government. Council received $50,000 from the Australian Government Drought Communities Project.
Federal Member for Calare and Minister for Veterans Affairs and Defence Personnel, Andrew Gee MP, said he was enthusiastic about the many benefits this project would deliver for Wellington.
“Wellington Library is a gold-mine of great books, magazines, DVDs and CDs, and is run by a wonderful group of staff who strive to make each visit extraordinary,” said Minister Gee.
“Now, visitors to Wellington Library will be able to enjoy the facility’s vast physical and digital collection in the great indoors, with the ribbon cut on an outdoor library space.
“Thanks to $50,000 in Australian Government support, the ‘outdoor living room’ will enable library-lovers can catch some rays while reading the latest newspapers, and sink into a good book under the sun!
“It’s great to see local residents enjoying the new space, which will also provide a welcoming spot for community groups to meet,” added Minister Gee.
Library visitors and the Wellington community are encouraged to enjoy the ambience of this wonderful new library space.
