Virgin Active opens Melbourne club
Australia’s second Virgin Active Health Club has opened in Melbourne’s Bourke Street.
The 5,000 metre2 state-of-the-art health club will, according to a press release from Virgin Active, “shake up the fitness industry like never before”, with the club “offering and promoting a holistic approach to health and fitness that incorporates body, mind and soul.
The facility is up to date with international trends including:
• Sleep pods - extremely popular with CBD workers wanting a lunch time power nap;
• A rock climbing wall, with ‘street art’ from Melbourne’s best graffiti artists;
• Mind and body studios designed to create a total wellness experience with the feel of a day spa;
• Reformer Pilates, included in the membership fee. Other gyms offer this at an additional cost;
• Power Plate vibration training;
• Technogym Kinesis – a gravity resistant work out the reconnects body and mind, encouraging exploration of the body’s natural movement;
• Relaxation spas and sauna;
• Group classes including Gym Stix, Latin Dance, Fight Do, various types of yoga, pilates including pre and post natal;
• V-Café offering organic food suitable for pre and post workout; and
• Free internet access.
The club also offer Virgin Active’s flexible memberships that “do not lock members into contracts that are impossible to get out of.”
Virgin Active have plans for significant expansion across Australia over the next five years.
