Village Roadshow reveals new imagery for Sea World’s New Atlantis Precinct
Village Roadshow Theme Parks has today released new images for how the under-development New Atlantis Precinct at Sea World will look when completed, on the day that media reports advise its parent company Village Roadshow will be taken over by private equity company BGH Capital.
In a statement, Village Roadshow advise “the New Atlantis will be a game-changer for Sea World with the $50 million dollar precinct to feature three world-class rides and will allow guests to experience the myths, mysteries and the ultimate Atlantean adventure as they enter the realm of the utopian destination.
“The Vortex, opening in December 2020, will have guests twisting, turning and spinning like never before as they spiral 18-metres above sea level.
“The Leviathan, opening June 2021, will be the world’s greatest family rollercoaster and take guests on a 90 second quest across the wooden terrain featuring exhilarating banked turns, crossovers, drops and dips.
“The Trident, opening June 2021, will allow guests to take to the skies as they discover the world of The New Atlantis atop Sea World’s newest and tallest landmark. Towering in the heart of The New Atlantis precinct, guests will defy gravity as they soar and spin freely 42 metres above the realm of the utopian destination.”
Village Roadshow’s sharing of its concepts for Sea World’s new precinct comes as the financial media report the cinema and theme park operator is to be acquired by Melbourne-based private equity firm BGH Capital.
With Village Roadshow’s share price depressed as a result of COVID-19’s impact on the cinema sector, the acquisition will end the company’s ownership by the Kirby family.
