Village Roadshow moves forward with Movie World hotel plans
Village Roadshow’s plans for 600-room hotel and function centre adjacent to Warner Bros Movie World are moving forward the City of Gold Coast Councillors set to approve the project.
The 22-storey, $333 million tourism and event complex is earmarked for a 5.1 hectare site on the northern side of Movie World on Entertainment Drive, where the theme park’s offices used to be sited.
As reported by the Gold Coast Bulletin, the 600-room complex is significantly larger than the nine-storey hotel which was already approved for the site by the council, with the new tower to feature a ‘panoramic sky deck’, infinity pool, bar and restaurants on its 21st level, along with a three-hall function centre.
Village Roadshow says the project will create 799 new construction jobs during its two-year construction, with a further 400 full-time jobs during its first five years of opening.
A consultation on the proposal runs until 13th March.
