VenuesWest and the Boab Network give children a day to remember
20 children from the remote indigenous community of Mowanjum in Western Australia were recently able to experience the facilities at Perth’s HBF Arena.
VenuesWest, owners of HBF Arena, partnered with the Boab Network, to provide the children with a full day of opportunities to partake in several sporting activities on Friday 19th January.
With the Boab Network and Mowanjum community children having first visited HBF Arena late last year, the children had been keen to return.
This second visit saw the Wanneroo Wolves Basketball Association also lend their support, giving the children a basketball clinic in their brand new facility at HBF Arena.
VenuesWest Chief Executive David Etherton said he was delighted to once again provide this opportunity, commenting “giving back to the community is very important to everyone at VenuesWest and this great initiative gives these children an experience they will remember.
“We are very proud to support the Boab Network in the amazing work they do to enrich the local community.”
In addition to basketball, the activities held at HBF Arena saw th children enjoy the facility’s pools, including the water slide and giant inflatable obstacle course.
For several years VenuesWest has supported the Boab Network, in particular by providing thousands of unclaimed items of clothing, swim wear and swimming accessories to members of the community.
VenuesWest staff have also personally contributed clothing, toys and games for the community’s child care centre.
VenuesWest delivers world class sport and entertainment experiences across its portfolio of thirteen venues and is a proud supporter of Western Australia’s high performance athletes.
The success of VenuesWest’s commercial activities enables reinvestment back into the venues for the benefit of elite athletes and the community.
Mowajum is located 10 kilometres south east of Derby in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.
