Vale: Peter Fitchett 1960-2023
Australasian Leisure Management is saddened to learn of the death of Peter Fitchett, Strategic Planning Specialist for the Otium Planning Group.
Peter, died earlier this month, after an extended illness.
Passionate about the role of parks and recreation in cities and communities, Peter joined Otium in 2019 having worked in senior executive roles in planning, infrastructure and development for the City of Casey.
He had begun his local government career at the City of Camberwell in 1985, where he developed a passion for quality parks, recreation, and community facilities. He then moved to Frankston, where he led the reshaping and rebranding of the city through large-scale urban development initiatives.
Described as a “strong, passionate advocate for parks” by Parks and Leisure Australia (PLA), the body recognised his commitment to the industry in 1998 when he was awarded its Frank Stewart Award
PLA added “our thoughts and condolences go out to Peter's family and close friends during this difficult time. Peter's legacy in the parks and leisure industry will be remembered and celebrated for years to come.”
