Travellers want to stay fit and healthy away from home
Two new surveys show that a growing number of people want to maintain their fitness activities as part of their holidays and travel plans.
Highlighting the growth of ‘wellness travel’ and the potential for a increasing number of activity and wellness based programs, resorts and tours, a newly released survey by Travelex shows that one in the three people want to ‘tone up’ on holiday while nearly one quarter said they would like to lose weight. A further 17% of people admitted to booking a fitness holiday to concentrate purely on their wellbeing.
Separate research by travel company Health and Fitness Travel found that staying active while on vacation is now important for 82% of people.
Mindful of the difficulties that travellers can face in keeping up routines and a healthy lifestyle while ‘on the road’, Wellbeing Worldwide has launched a user generated/expert mediated platform dedicated to create a comprehensive guide to taking health and fitness around the world.
Wellbeing Worldwide currently boasts over 750 listings worldwide, and growing daily, covering everything from local gyms, fitness studios, health food cafes and restaurants, health spas, outdoor gyms, retreats and health food markets.
In order to maintain the credibility of its listings, Wellbeing Worldwide has partnered with a host of international health and fitness experts to form a judging panel, who give their tick of approval on the site. The judges include Scott Gooding; The Merrymaker Sisters; AJ Roberts; Madeleine Shaw and Samantha Lippiatt, Director of Health and Fitness Travel Australia.
Introducing the concept of Wellbeing Worldwide, founder Em Esslemont explains “gone are the days when we packed our bags for a holiday or work travel and left our healthy habits behind.
“Wellbeing Worldwide is a database of all things health and fitness, targeted to those who have a love and passion for their health.
“Wellbeing Worldwide is a trusted guide to help you emulate your healthy lifestyle wherever you go. Say goodbye to hours of searching high and low to find a gym or healthy café.
“Our users have done the research for you and partnered with experts all over the world to create the ultimate healthy travel companion.”
Lippiatt adds “the opportunities for fitness and health travel are ever growing and with Wellbeing Worldwide, the access to health and fitness is at the individual’s disposal.
“We believe that this is just the beginning and we can expect to see tremendous growth of followers in this area.”
