Tourism Council WA launches campaign encouraging vaccinations for summer peak

Tourism Council WA has launched a new campaign encouraging Western Australians to get vaccinated ahead of the summer peak travel period.

The campaign, featuring real WA tourism operators and employees, will air on television and social media from today.

Advising that the Western Australian community had its part to play in keeping everyone safe ahead of the busy Christmas and summer school holiday period, Tourism Council WA Chief Executive, Evan Hall stated “travelling around Western Australia is a privilege, but it also comes with a responsibility to protect ourselves and others

“Please get vaccinated before travelling throughout WA this summer to protect yourself, as well as the tourism businesses and other members of the community you will interact with.”

Hall said tourism operators were doing their part to keep themselves, staff, guests, and their communities safe by getting vaccinated, noting “our industry surveys show that tourism operators are getting vaccinated at rates well above the broader community in an effort to support safe and responsible travel in WA.”

With Federal and State Governments are implementing vaccination and testing requirements for interstate and international travel into and around Australia, Hall adding “we would like to see airlines and governments give notice of the vaccination requirements for travel into WA so our guests and returning Western Australians know what is expected of them before the summer peak travel period.”
