Tourism and Hospitality staff offered free entry to Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas
Local tourism, hospitality and retail staff are being offered complementary admission to Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas from 26th May to 22nd June 2025, as a way of saying "thankyou" for their contribution to the Douglas Shire community.
Local employees can visit the park during this period simply by showing proof of employment in any of the three sectors. It’s a chance to take a break, explore the immersive habitats, and reconnect with nature.
Ben Woodward, Director of Sales & Marketing, said the team wanted to acknowledge the efforts of local workers and offer something in return adding “we appreciate the work our local staff do every day. This is our way of saying thanks and giving them an opportunity to relax in one of the most beautiful settings in the region.”
To add even more value to the experience, Wildlife Habitat is also offering a special deal on its popular Swim with the Salties adventure - three people can swim for the price of two.
Beyond providing memorable wildlife encounters, Wildlife Habitat is also home to Tropical Animal Rehabilitation Centre (TARC), a non-profit facility that rescues and rehabilitates injured, sick and orphaned native animals.
Clare Hunt, Wildlife Habitat General Manager, said the team takes great pride in the important work carried out through TARC. Each year, the centre provides free care to hundreds of injured, sick and orphaned native animals, with the goal of giving them a second chance in the wild.
Hunt advised “we care for hundreds of animals every year through TARC. Every donation helps us continue that work, and we’re grateful for any support from the community.”
Visitors are encouraged to contribute through the brand-new Heart4TARC initiative by purchasing a heart-shaped sticker from reception. Each heart is added to a special tree wall display in the park, a growing tribute to those helping support wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. Every donation goes directly toward animal care, rehabilitation and release programs, helping to make a tangible difference for local wildlife.
The award-winning Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas is an immersive exhibit providing visitors with a chance to experience the diverse range of Australian wildlife in Wetlands, Rainforest, Woodland, and Savannah environments up close. It offers immersive experiences that educate, inspire, and foster a deeper connection with nature.
