Thredbo concludes 'massive' July School Holiday Period

Thredbo Resort is marking the end of a hugely successful school holiday period which saw a massive number of families descend on the Snowy Mountains to enjoy everything the award winning resort has to offer.

Commenting on what he called “a magical feeling” in the resort during school holidays, Thredbo Brand and Marketing Director, Richie Carroll advised “there's nothing better than seeing families have a great time together both on-and-off the mountain.

“We're extremely proud to offer such a diverse and unique family snow holiday experience with our huge calendar of events and entertainment. Skiing and snowboarding truly is just the beginning here.”

From 1st to 16th July, Thredbo hosted its hugely popular July Kids Snow Festival, providing families with a full calendar of free events and entertainment to enjoy in addition to great skiing and snowboarding conditions.

On the final day of the school holidays yesterday, Thredbo hosted a new childrens’ skiing, snowboarding and workshopping event called Project Shred.

Carroll deemed the event “a big success with a huge number” of children turning out to the child-friendly terrain park to ride with some of Australia's best pro athletes and Olympians and learn tips and tricks on the snow.

After the shred session, everyone headed down to the village for a workshop where the athletes sat down to inspire the next generation and share their secrets to success and happiness.

Thredbo received 51cm of fresh snow throughout the school holiday period, taking the total season snowfall count to 177cm so far. During school holidays, families enjoyed magical mornings where the village had been transformed into a white winter wonderland plus lots of sunny bluebird days on the mountain in-between.

Looking ahead, Thredbo will continue to roll out Australia’s biggest winter events calendar.

Uni Week kicks off today, offering tertiary students 30% off lift passes plus 15 après parties for them to enjoy with their classmates over five days.

The après will continue this weekend with the iconic First Base presented by Canadian Club event taking over The Alpine Bar next Saturday 22nd July.

For families that missed out these school holidays, Thredbo’s Kids Snow Festival is returning during the September school holidays from 16th September to 1st October.
