Thermal pool blanket reduces operating costs at new private aquatic centre
The recent opening of the Nepean Aquatic Centre marks the culmination of many years of involvement in swimming in the Nepean (western Sydney) area by owners Alan and Karen Bentley.
Their company, Nepean Swim & Fitness Pty Ltd, funded and developed the new indoor swimming complex which incorporates a Learn to Swim Pool measuring 12.5 metres x 13.2 metres and a separate lap pool which has 4 x 25 metre lanes and 2 x 50 metre lanes.
The new facility replaces their former Fitness World Swimming centre which closed in November last year and with the new centre, Alan Bentley believes"we have addressed these issues and are confident we have opened one of the best private aquatic centres in NSW."
Bentley adds "from learning to swim, competing, coaching and finally operating our learn to swim businesses, we have a passion for swimming that goes beyond just owning a swim school."
Nepean Swim & Fitness Pty Ltd currently employs up to 80 staff. The company also trains and assesses new Austswim Instructors throughout the year upon completion of their courses.
In developing the new Centre, Alan Bentley engaged Sunbather Pool Technologies in the planning stages of this centre.
Alan knew what savings in dollars and emissions he would make by including a Sunbather Thermal Blanket and Roller System in the design of his pools and also knew the model and design of the thermal blanket and roller system he wanted for his pools.
Working in with the Sunbather engineers at the design stage of his project knew that he would get exactly what he wanted and not have to try to retrofit a pool blanket and roller system after the building was completed.
Such an approach can mean clumsy rollers on the pool deck or expensive support work to install the roller on the wall.
The completed facility now has its own wall mounted motorised Sunbather Thermal Blanket and Roller System with the mounting brackets for the system being individually designed to suit the angles on the walls and the required positions.
This system was installed by the Sunbather NSW team lead by NSW Manager, Mervyn Smith.
Other features of the new complex include:
• Learn to Swim pool heated to 31.5 deg Celsius.
• Lap pool heated to 28 deg Celsius.
• Moveable fibreglass wall to convert the main pool to a six lane 25 metre pool with two separate 25 metre lap lanes.
