The Hills Shire Council awards tender for Box Hill Lands Sports Complex
The Hills Shire Council has awarded Glascott Landscape and Civil the tender for construction of the new sports complex at Water Lane Reserve in Box Hill, New South Wales. The project, undertaken in partnership with The Hills Shire Council, aims to transform approximately eight hectares into a premier sport and recreation precinct.
Key features of the development include:
Two natural turf AFL fields (winter) and an athletics track (summer)
Half basketball court
A new amenities pavilion with accessible toilets, change rooms, canteen, referees' room, and storage
A 200-space car park and coach drop-off zone
Children’s playground and picnic areas with shelters and BBQs
Shared pathways, wayfinding signage, and landscaping
Specialist field lighting and sustainable water reuse systems
Construction is scheduled to commence soon, with completion expected by October 2026.
Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne, said the project was a significant milestone in Council's commitment to providing essential recreational infrastructure for the growing Box Hill community.
Mayor Byrne noted "The Water Lane Reserve Sports Complex will transform the area's recreational offerings, providing quality facilities for both formal sports and casual community use.
"This facility will support organised sports such as AFL in winter and athletics in summer, whilst also offering welcoming open space for residents to gather, exercise, and play."
The $19.6 million project is being delivered in partnership with the NSW Government through the Accelerated Infrastructure Fund (AIF) and is part of a broader recreational strategy to meet the needs of a rapidly growing community. It will be one of six new sports field developments in Box Hill, following the successful opening of the Brindle Parkway Sports Complex last year.
