The Canterbury Bankstown Leisure and Aquatics Centres achieve high safety scores
In early June, The Canterbury Bankstown Leisure & Aquatics Centres undertook their annual Royal Life Saving Aquatic Facility Safety Assessments. Royal Life Saving sets the best practice guidelines designed to minimise, control and where possible, eliminate risk to facility users and staff.
The audits are a tool used to benchmark the Centres against industry best practice each year and part of the Centres’ ongoing commitment to continuously improve the safety of their centres.
There are two scoring factors;
1. Overall Safety Score: the purpose of the Safety Score is to provide a readily identifiable benchmark of the venue’s compliance with the predetermined safety assessment criteria. This score is marked out of 100.
2. 5 Star Water Safety Partner Accreditation: the 5 star rating highlights the venue’s ongoing commitment to aquatic safety standard. This score is marked out of 100/converted to a star rating. This is also an indicator that schools use as part of their selection of a facility to ensure the safety of their students in aquatic based curriculum activities.
All five of The Canterbury Bankstown Leisure & Aquatics Centres scored in the 95th percentile or above.
Safety Score 5 Star Rating
Birrong 95 96 (4.8 stars)
Canterbury 98 100 (5 stars)
Max Parker 97 98 (4.9 stars)
Roselands 96 100 (5 stars)
The Wran 95 100 (5 stars)
