ActiveXchange partners with Royal Life Saving to deliver water safety data

Royal Life Saving Society - Australia has announced a partnership with analytics experts ActiveXchange to support data and evidence-driven decision making in continuing to facilitate, advocate, innovate and activate a reduction in the nation’s drowning dates.

The new partnership aims to support the work of Royal Life Saving in drowning prevention programming and advocacy across every state and territory in Australia, expanding the understanding of swimming and water safety education infrastructure and the provision of lifesaving programs to communities across the country.

ActiveXchange’s data gathering will enhance the evidence-base of targeted advocacy initiatives which help Royal Life Saving reduce the risk of drowning for Australians everywhere.

Royal Life Saving’s Chief Executive, Justin Scarr stated “with evidence-driven decision-making being a key commitment of our strategic framework, we have teamed up with ActiveXchange to increase access to data and enhance the evidence-base for our members.

“It’s one part of our multi-stage program to continue to foster an evidence-driven approach across Australia and better inform ourselves, our members and in turn our partners to enable more informed decisions for infrastructure, investment and funding to ensure communities who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in swimming and water safety activities remain in focus.”

ActiveXchange now partners with operators, consultants, sports, local, state and Federal Government agencies to empower decisions through data driven evidence.

The Network harnesses data from more than 16,000 locations, 60+ state sporting organisations, five state government agencies, 350+ aquatic and recreation centres and more than three million members in Australia alone.

ActiveXchange Chief Executive, James Ellender shared Scarr’s enthusiasm. highlighting the “significant step up in the ‘network effect’ where government, planners, consultants, operators and peak bodies can come together for the purpose of tackling critical issues – in this example, water safety”.

One of the first projects ActiveXchange has delivered is the ‘Pool Provision Dashboard’ using predictive analytics and data modelling to highlight the current gap in provision, suburb by suburb across Australia, based on current Aquatic supply and demand.

Ellender added “this is just the start of a number of data collaborations ahead as Justin and his team become more familiar with our data tech team, and the power of a connected data ecosystem purpose-built for our sector.

“In doing so, I’m looking forward to supporting Royal Life Saving in continuing its work of reducing the burden of drowning  by using our platform to create targeted opportunities for communities to learn swimming and water safety skills across Australia.”
