Terry Davies takes on Chief Executive role at Dunedin’s Forsyth Barr Stadium
Former cricketer and South Australian Tourism Commission executive Terry Davies has been appointed Chief Executive of Dunedin Venues Management Limited (DVML), managers of Dunedin’s Forsyth Barr Stadium.
Davies joins DVML from Adelaide where he was previously Event Strategy Manager with the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC). Previously he had worked for Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium - generating revenue through venue membership clubs, corporate hospitality and sponsorship – before which he had been Deputy Chief Executive of the South Australian Cricket Association.
At SATC, Davies had focussed on the review and restructure of the Events South Australia strategic plan, commercialisation of current events on the calendar plus the commercial evaluation of new events.
His career as a professional cricketer with the Glamorgan County Cricket Club in the early 1980s contributed to a successful tenure as Marketing and Membership Manager and then Deputy Chief Executive with the South Australian Cricket Association establishing the Adelaide Oval as one of the leading sporting and entertainment venues in Australia bringing new events including AC/DC, Pearl Jam, Fleetwood Mac and International Rugby Sevens.
Davies is excited about his appointment and is eager to get in and tackle what he sees as a terrific challenge to ensure all of DVML’s properties succeed, and grow the businesses significantly.
